Each of these countries offers respected schooling, and the right choice depends on your child; Canada stands out for open access to public schools and clear custodianship rules.
- Public school access: Canadian public districts accept fee-paying international students for multiple years. Our database lists 105 districts in 10 provinces with tuition of CAD 9,500-18,500 a year (Canada High Schools school database, October 2026).
- United States: F-1 students may attend a public secondary school for a maximum of 12 months and must pay the full unsubsidized cost. Private schools are not subject to this limit.
- United Kingdom: The Child Student visa, for ages 4 to 17, is for study at an independent (fee-paying) school with a licensed sponsor.
- Australia: Student visa holders under 18 must have approved welfare arrangements, either with a parent or eligible relative or confirmed by the education provider.
- Canada's safeguards: A minor under 17 without a parent needs a custodian who is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, confirmed by notarized declaration. Diplomas are provincial and lead to university admission.
Please note: Immigration and school rules in every country change; check each government's official website before deciding.
