Schools generally lend core textbooks and provide access to computers at school, and many students also bring a personal laptop.
- Devices: Policies vary. One B.C. district states that a laptop is not required for school, though a personal device helps with communication.
- Textbooks: Core textbooks are normally loaned for the year. Students supply stationery and may pay for some course supplies or activities.
- Online work: Ontario requires at least two online learning credits for the OSSD, so reliable access to a device is useful.
- Private schools: Many independent schools run their own device programs and may name a required model. Ask for the technology list with the acceptance package.
Please note: Requirements are set by each school.
