Yes. Parents are welcome to visit, provided they hold the right travel document and plan around the school calendar.
- Entry document: Depending on nationality, parents need a visitor visa or an electronic travel authorization (eTA). IRCC has an online tool to check which applies.
- Length of stay: IRCC states that most visitors can stay for up to 6 months, and the border services officer decides the period on arrival.
- Accommodation: Homestay programs normally ask visiting family to stay in a hotel rather than in the host home.
- Travel with your child: Tell the program before taking your child out of the city or the country. Programs require notice and travel documents.
- Best timing: Winter break, spring break and graduation are good times, as attendance is expected on school days.
Please note: Visitor rules and fees change; confirm on the IRCC website before booking.
