Most schools ask for an application form and fee, the last two years of school reports translated into English, a passport copy, and in many cases a recommendation or a short personal letter.
- School reports: Transcripts or report cards for the last two years, translated into English. Toronto asks for certified or notarized copies.
- Identity: The passport photo page, or a birth certificate or government photo ID if the passport is not yet issued.
- Supporting letters: Toronto requires a signed and dated letter of recommendation. West Vancouver asks secondary applicants for a letter of intent about their studies, interests and goals.
- Custodianship: A notarized custodianship declaration signed by the parents and by the custodian in Canada. IRCC requires a custodian for students under 17 who come without a parent or legal guardian.
- Later documents: Immunization records, the study permit and, where required, English test results or homestay profile materials are usually requested after acceptance or on arrival.
Please note: Each district has its own checklist and file format rules; follow the one on its application page.
