Yes, both are offered in Canada, in public and private schools, but only in selected schools, so the program has to be part of the school choice from the start.
- IB in Canada: The International Baccalaureate Organization reports 383 IB World Schools in Canada, 78% of them public. About 41% teach mainly in French.
- AP in Canada: Advanced Placement courses and exams are offered through the College Board's AP Canada program at schools across the country, in both public districts and independent schools.
- Added to the diploma: AP and IB courses are taken alongside or within the provincial program. Students still graduate with the provincial diploma of the province where they study.
- Entry conditions: These programs often have their own admission steps, limited places and sometimes extra fees. Some districts restrict when international students can join them.
- How to search: The CAPS-I school search lets families filter public districts by Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate.
Please note: Confirm with the school that the program is open to international students in the grade you are applying for.
